Ordering Process / Returns
- Can I purchase textbooks in the store directly?
No - ALL textbooks must be purchased online. All online orders will be picked up in the lower level of our store. Follow in-store signage to claim your order – ID is required.
**Most lab manuals are available for purchase in-store in the Art Supply section. - Do I need to be signed into an account on the website to purchase books?
Yes – You will need to create a Jackrabbit Central customer account to make purchases through our website. This is a different account than your SDState student account – we recommend using your student (Jacks) email address. - Can I purchase Art/Engineering supplies online?
Yes – Supplies can be found by searching under the Supplies or Art/Engineering Supplies categories online. Some items are not online, so check in store. - How come when I try to put a purchase on my student account, it will not let me proceed to the “Review My Order” screen?
If you are renting a textbook and charging to your student account, you will still need to enter a debit/credit card number. This card will only be charged if the rental is not returned at the end of the term. - Can I charge my textbooks & educational materials to my student account?
Yes – each student is offered a $250 line of credit for both the Fall and Spring semester to charge textbooks, educational materials and general merchandise to. The amount charged is then added to your final tuition bill.
When students have reached the $250 balance limit, they will not be able to charge any further items to their account. - How do I pick up my order?
- For FREE in-store pick-up, you MUST enter your address and then select “In-Store Pick-Up” at checkout.
**On-campus students CANNOT ship orders to their dorms
**All in-store orders not picked up within 14 days will be refunded with the exception of prior to the term starting - we will hold your order until you are back on campus for the next semester. - An order confirmation email will be sent after checkout.
**Please allow up to 24 hours for order processing and packaging. - Once your order is processed, you will receive a 2nd email stating your order is ready for pick-up or that it has been shipped.
**Student ID or driver's license as well as your order confirmation number are required for order pick-up.
- Can I cancel my order?
If your order has not been fulfilled, you can cancel your order by calling or emailing sdsu.JacksCustService@sdstate.edu
- How do I return textbooks?
- Visit the register area of our store, inform our staff of your return request.
- Fill out a textbook return form.
**The last day to return your textbooks will be approximately 2 weeks after semester start - the exact date will be announced.
**Purchase receipt is required for all returns.
**Returned materials MUST be returned in the state they were purchased (ie. shrink-wrapped, sealed, not scratched etc.) - What are the charges on my SDePay account for?
If the charge is labeled "FirstDayAccessEtextbook 2 chg", that is the First Day Access item that one of your courses is using. Check your email for more details about each charge. If you drop a course before the Add/Drop deadline, you will automatically be refunded /credited through First Day Access.
If the charge is labeled "Bookstore charges", this indicates charges for an online order that you placed or for items you charged in-store.
Enrollment
- If I add a course, how do I get access or materials?
Course enrollment changes can take up to 48 hours to be processed. Once records have been refreshed, digital course materials will be available through your instructor’s links in D2L and/or VitalSource Bookshelf. If print materials are required, students can place an order online if the bookstore still has stock.
If you are missing digital access due to being added to the course after the add/drop date, please get in touch with sdsu.JacksTextbooks@sdstate.edu The bookstore has to opt in late-added students.
- If I am wait-listed for a course, how do I get access or materials?
If you are wait-listed for a course, materials will not appear until you are officially added to the course roster. Course enrollment changes can take up to 48 hours to be processed.
- How do I view my booklist?
Sign in to using your SDSU login. Go to your student Dashboard and click on “My Textbooks”. This will show the courses you are registered for. Also, virit our “Buy Textbooks” page and look up your courses. Booklists can also be printed here.
Textbooks
- My Textbook has"First Day Access" in the title. What does this mean?
It means this is a First Day Access book that you have access to. Before classes begin, an email with instructions will be sent to your student university email titled “DO NOT DELETE”. This book is being billed directly to your tuition, there is nothing more you need to purchase.
**To Opt-Out of First Day Access books, simply follow the instructions before the opt-out deadline. - My Textbook has"OER" in the title. What does this mean?
OER means Open Educational Resource, which is free for students. Resources can typically be found through the Briggs Library or other OER platforms.
- My course indicates "No Text is Required". What does this mean?
Your instructor has indicated that no materialsneed to be purchased for the class. Review the syllabus provided.
- My course indicates "No information found". What does this mean?
This indicates your instructor or department has not yet submitted course material information. Please check back in a few days or check with your instructor.
- What does (DC) stand for behind certain book titles?
DC stands for Digital Content (e-book). Once your order is processed, an email will be sent from notifications@mail.prismrbs.io giving you access instructions.
**You will NOT receive a physical book-this book is accessed entirely online - Why does one of my courses have the same book but one is “Required” and another is “Optional”?
The instructor submitted a certain edition but is okay with an older/newer edition or digital version of the book.
**Some classes require an online workbook, so check your D2L.
**ISBN numbers differ for each medium, digital, print and First Day Access books all have different ISBN numbers - Can I use a clicker for more than 1 year and for multiple classes?
Yes – there are multiple options for subscription periods, and they can be used for multiple classes.
**After purchase, you MUST register the clicker yourself. - Once I'm done using my physical book, can I sell it back?
Yes – we offer buyback during final exam week. A valid SDSU student ID is required. Outside finals week, students can sell books back through our supplier at
Buyback prices vary due to demand.
**The last day to charge to your student account for the semester is approximately one week after new semester classes begin - the exact date will be announced
